Mommy's second day home alone with the twins. We survived two whole days being alone for nine hours.
We're all a little tired. Mommy especially.
Nighty night.

Colic = Exhaustion
Yes. We. Have. Colic. I have read about it, studied it, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it could be as exhausting as it is. Look how peaceful my little man looks at this very moment (I just took his picture):
I think we have a "Daddy's Girl" in the house.
Peaceful, right? It's more like utter exhaustion from screaming in pain all night. It is the saddest thing to watch your baby writhe in pain and not be able to help him in any way. His little underdeveloped digestive system is wreaking havoc in our house hold and making his new little life difficult. We have tried the following to help ease his pain:
- Swaddling
- Warm baths
- Warm washcloths on his belly and back
- Warm compresses on his belly and back
- Vibrating chairs
- Rocking
- Massage
- Formula for sensitive tummies
- Lactose free formula
- White noise
- Dim lights and little stimulation
- Ovol
- Gripe Water
- Dr. Bro.wn's Bottles
- Baby wearing (in a Snugli)
- Baby wearing (in a sling)
- Following "The Hap.piest Ba.by on the Bl.ock" advice
I think we have a "Daddy's Girl" in the house.

Rowan Is On His Way!! **Update**
Tanya is in labor and is currently battling morning rush hour in Ottawa trying to get to the hospital.
The sun is shining brightly here and it is a beautiful autumn day. A perfect day to welcome a new life into the world.
He's here!! Rowan was born at 1:02pm and weighed 7lbs 1oz!! A VERY happy day!

Hickeys, Pounds and Smiles
I never thought I'd ever receive a hickey from another girl, but last night, I did. It's not as illicit as it sounds, though. Last night, after feeding our girl, I placed her on my chest (tummy side down) and rubbed her back for a long while. I felt her rooting around on my neck, but thought nothing of it until I woke this morning and saw two "love bites" in plain sight!
On Thursday we brought the wee ones to see the doctor for their one month check up. Both are doing very well and their weights are climbing. Baby boy now weighs 7lbs 11oz (his birth weight was 5lbs 15 oz) and baby girl weighs 7lbs 13oz (her birth weight was 6lbs 7 oz). We had tons of questions about formula (I'm formula and breastfeeding), about poops and about all kinds of other baby related information. There is so much about which to be confused, so we tend to ask a lot of questions. The doctor detected a bit of a clicking noise in our boy's hips and said that we need to schedule an ultrasound to rule out dysplasia. We'll know more soon.
The doctor said that we should be starting to see social smiles soon, but I thought it was too early. Nevertheless, K2 and I set to work on seeing if we could get baby girl to smile yesterday while baby boy was napping. Here are the results. Brace yourselves.

The Evolution Of A Cry
Calm and happy
Something's amiss...
Not having any of it...
Honestly...not having ANY of it!
You can almost hear the yelling.
Baby Girl's thought: "What the heck is up with this kid?"

Welcome To The Stretchy Show!
After every outing, we take the babies out of their car seats and put them on the area rug in the great room. This is the show we get. Does it get any cuter?
