A Rainy Sunday

We woke this morning to a very cloudy sky, and even though the forecast wasn't calling for rain until the evening, it started to sprinkle early in the day. We spent some time playing in the backyard (we tried badminton today) and then had some pizza for lunch. Since the rain wasn't letting up, we decided to head into Summerside to go bowling.
Summerside is about forty minutes from the cottage, so we checked out the route for any geocaches along the way. There were many, but since it was a rainy day, we decided to stop for three fairly easy caches.
The first cache brought us to a side road where K. and I had to wade through prickly pines to spy the small container near a babbling brook. Inside, we found a log, a small flip flop eraser, and a token.

We moved on a few kilometers down the highway where K. spotted this one midway up a pine tree.

It may be difficult to see, but K. spied this one just as J. was about to give up.

The third one took us to the side of a road near a farmer's field. The cows were giving us the stink eye, but K. and G. were not bothered. After some rummaging through the brush, G. found this one stuck to a magnetic pole by the side of the road.

Victory!

Three caches found, it was time to find the bowling alley in Summerside. We didn't know it, but Sundays are Cosmic Bowling days. A kind of a "glow in the dark" bowling experience. So fun!

After bowling, we were quite hungry and ready for some dinner, but first we wanted to find an easy cache by the  waterfront.

This one was under a bridge, but we got it!

We decided to have dinner at a "real" restaurant (we typically don't eat at restaurants - only DQ sometimes). But, we told the kids we would be going to one where someone comes to our table to ask us what we'd like to eat and then we would have to wait patiently for the food. The twins were SO excited and felt very mature.

They thought our server was so thoughtful for bringing them colouring pages as they waited.

Super excited for these sweet desserts.

As we made our way back to the cottage, it continued to rain. The forecast for the coming week is much warmer and sunnier than last week, so we are making plans to head to Charlottetown to spend a couple of days at the beaches there.

For now, we snuggle in and watch a movie as the rain pours down outside.
