Halloween 2010

Although this isn't our first Halloween with the babies, tonight was our first real foray into the land of Trick Or Treating.  Since the weather was a little chilly (0C or 32F) we had to layer our bugs something fierce.
Pea wasn't as keen to walk around the neighborhood as Chick and ended up being carried by J. for most of the 30 minutes we were out.  Chick, on the other hand, couldn't wait to walk up the steps of each house to present her Pumpkin Bag for all to see.

As we were walking home, I asked J. if he ever thought he would have the chance to take his children Trick or Treating.  He shook his head and held Pea a little tighter.  We are the luckiest people in the world.

When it was time to hand out candy, we put the twins to work.

Chickadee

Dear Chick,

I love you. Why, for the love of everything holy, have you made it your mission this week to make me sick? At first, I was so excited because you were actually seeking me out for snuggles and cuddles (things you typically save for Daddy). Then, I realized you were only nuzzling your goobery face against my neck, clothes, pant legs, etc. to wipe the drizzling snot off your nose.

You have saved your biggest and wettest sneezes for those times when I am leaned in for a kiss. At one point in the week, I feared death by drowning in your sneeze-flood. Earlier today, I feared I was getting a migraine because I was seeing spots. I stopped worrying when I discovered that the spots I was seeing were remnants of your sneeze-spray on my glasses.

Daddy complimented me on my new polka dot shirt tonight. It was a solid black shirt. Turns out, the polka dots were just dried up snot circles.

Well, you will be happy to know that you have been successful. As of tonight, my poor, weary body has succumbed to your aggressive tactics. I am sick. You know what else? So is Pea.

I love you, but you're not funny. Not one single bit.

Has It Really Been A Week?

I looked at the date of my last post and realized that it had been posted a week ago. Too long ago.

We have been busy and having loads of fun! Fourteen month old babies toddlers are THE BEST! The BEST, I tell ya. Chick and Pea are hilarious, entertaining, loving and wonderfully fascinating to us. We laugh until we cry almost every single day. What a great way to live!

What have we been up to?

We've been spending a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the crisp Autumn weather.

We've been decorating for Halloween with my super cool vintage decorations (circa 1970s).

We've been learning to wreak havoc with draw with markers.

We've been making some cute Halloween crafts like these adorable spiders with legs made from tracing Chick and Pea's hands.

Finally, we've been eating all kinds of yummy Autumn favorites, like this minestrone soup that is currently simmering in the slow cooker for dinner tonight.

Our Cardboard House

We have a lot of videos of the babies laughing their cute little heads off. Like this one, this one and this one (to name only a few).
I love that they laugh so heartily and with such fervor.  Their laughter makes us laugh no matter how grumpy we are.  We are so glad that they have each other and are able to play so well together (most times).  Tonight, as I was cleaning up after dinner, J. captured this little laugh-fest.  We bought the twins a little kitchenette a couple of weeks ago and, though they have been having fun with it, have loved playing with the box in came in even more.

Numbered Days

With the chilly weather coming hard and fast, our days at the park are numbered. This morning, likely before other families were stirring, we ventured out to have some fun in the sun. It was cool, but with the sun shining brightly, we managed to stay out for quite some time.
