Lanai

We have decided to refer to our new deck as the "Lanai". It is an appropriate alternative and sounds so much lovelier.

Our Saturday began with breakfast on the Lanai:

Followed by a hard day's work putting the railing on (I don't have pictures of the worker bees, but they did work hard all. day. long).

We had to put a piece of plywood along the area where the stairs will be built so that the babies wouldn't fall down and hurt themselves.  Guess who immediately found his way to the danger area...

Our goal was to create a safe and cozy outdoor living space and I think we're almost there.  We spent a total of 12 hours on the Lanai today and it was amazing.  The most wonderful part?  It's only MAY!  We still have so many more days to enjoy out there.  Good time ahead!

 

They Keep Us Busy

Pea decided one day this week that he was able to climb up our stairs. He now climbs up all by himself when we have baths. In this video, it wasn't bath night, but he was headed to the bathroom anyway.

Chick has had a bout of insomnia this week...which means that Mommy has to participate in the insomnia as well. This doesn't bode well for this Mommy who is down a pint of blood and run down as a result (local blood drive). She's cute as a button, though, so she makes it all okay.

Ew

Both babies are sick...again.  The snot is free flowing and I would have had a picture of Pea's crusty l'il face too, but he's back in bed napping off the whine.  Sigh.

This is "s'not" ladylike at all.

Dusk

The babies are in bed and after a very full day of splashing in their new pool, we suspect they will sleep soundly. We've turned on the lights in the gazebo and will spend some time breathing in the stillness of the evening.

Finally...A Picture!

On May 9th, Chick's first tooth broke through and since then I've been trying to get a photo of it. Today, we finally got one!


Still on the deck, still loving this outdoor space and still counting our blessings. What a beautiful summer we have ahead of us!

A Good Morning

J. and I put up the gazebo on the deck yesterday (our backyard faces Northwest, so we get full sun back there from late afternoon onward)and I am so happy to have a space outside where the twins can play and be sheltered.

It is 7:15am on this holiday Monday and while Chick and J. are still sound asleep in the house, Pea and I are outside enjoying the fresh morning air. I am sipping some much needed and loved coffee and Pea is playing in the exersaucer. A happy boy!

Bedtime Check

The babies usually go to bed (with help from us) between 7 - 7:30 each night.  When J. and I finally turn in for the night (typically between 9 - 10) we do a check of the babies to make sure their rooms are warm and that they are settled comfortably.
Last night, as I checked on Chick, I saw the cutest little sight. She had tucked her knees under her belly so that her bum was high in the air.  She usually sleeps on her back with her arms over her head, so seeing her like this made me stop in my tracks.  Then I grabbed the camera.
Apparently, I used to sleep like this too.
