Happy Birthday, Babies!

Squeezing the babies extra tight today and thinking about all the ways they have each added so much joy to our lives.
I told my parents last weekend that we are living a fairytale. We knew that we would love our sweeties intensely, but we didn't anticipate how much we would like them and how insanely happy they would make us.
We were warned about life with twins; about how difficult it was and about how tired we would be day in and day out. Yes, it is difficult and yes we are more tired than we have ever been in our lives, but the utter joy trumps everything else a million times over.
Life is good. Life is so very, very good.

A special thank you to everyone who helped us get through our first year with the babies:

• My parents who always came over at the drop of a hat when we needed them and who accompanies us when we went to music or swim classes
• My mom who came over every single day for the first few weeks after J. went back to work
• My best friend, Tanya who helped me navigate the first few weeks (including listening to me cry about breastfeeding woes) and who continued to support every decision I made with regard to the babies over the past year
• Our friend Michelle who, on her days off, would come and spend them here with the twins and me.  She said it was because she liked our company, but I know she really wanted to help in any way she could.  For this and for so many other things, thank you Michelle.
• Our friend Catherine.  Catherine and I were blessed to share our maternity leave together and on those days when each of us needed the company of another adult, we were there for each other unconditionally.  Thank you, Catherine.  I will miss you so much as you head back to work today. Hugs to you.
• To every one of you who leave comments of support and who email with words of encouragement
• To J. for being the best Daddy in the world to these babies.  They are beyond lucky to have a dad like you
