Forgiveness

Photobucket

I like this image. I spend a lot of time teaching my students about forgiveness. So many of them think that forgiveness means condoning others' negative actions. Just like apologizing is sometimes more about the importance of a relationship rather than one's ego, forgiveness is more about one's relationship with one's soul than with someone else. It's about not allowing a space for others' poison within one's heart. People who can't forgive carry that poison within them. Forgiveness is about us, not them.

  4. beautifully stated. and forgiveness is a journey, not some one time event. it takes acknowledgment of your own hurt, working through your anger, to arrive there. and sometimes even arriving, you find you start over again. but can't agree more, it's about letting go- for you.

  5. i don't know how often you hear from your students years later but it's nice that you teach more than just bookwork. i still remember when you wrote on the board "normal is a setting on a dishwasher, not a word to describe a human being" and i still remember one time Mr Wade said that in class the following year and i corrected him with the same wisdom.
